Meet The Artist

Heritage of the Masters

Drawing from the depth of 17th-century techniques, Samuel Shelton bridges the gap between classical reverence and contemporary realism. His work is a testament to the enduring power of the Old Masters, where every brushstroke captures the intricate textures of history and the profound emotional resonance of the human spirit. Samuel has pieces currently available and is also available to do commissioned pieces. Samuel Shelton's artistic journey is defined by a profound commitment to the classical pursuit of realism. Over the course of two decades, he has dedicated his career to the study of human anatomy and the complex interplay of light and shadow. His work bridges the gap between the Renaissance and the modern era, drawing inspiration from the Old Masters to create works that are both technically masterful and emotionally resonant. Whether capturing the quiet intensity of a single portrait or the intricate narrative of a multi-figure religious scene, Shelton's art serves as a testament to the enduring power of the human spirit and the timeless beauty of the divine.
Samuel draws inspiration from his favorite things in life: his Catholic faith, wife and children, and art. These loves are captured and presented clearly in his work. While he does portraits and other secular works, the subject matter he is passionate about is biblical scenes and sacred art. He often uses friends and family as models for his work, including his wife of 17 years and his 9 children. He loves the style and timelessness of the Baroque and French Academic Masters and incorporates their styles and technique into his work.
